- Value Engineering
Value engineering increases innovation opportunities,
improves cost-effectiveness, enhances performance, and fosters partnering
with project participants.
David Flynn Ltd. integrates value engineering into
the engineering development and construction management phases of projects
to eliminate unnecessary life-cycle costs without sacrificing important
project components such as safety, quality, environmental compliance,
or other functional requirements.
Although value engineering can be applied during any
phase of a project, DFL's experience demonstrates that the ability to
influence project cost is greatest during the earliest stages of a project.
DFL uses two methods to conduct value engineering:
1. Ongoing optimization of project
by project staff. Looks for ways to optimize the design and construction
and produce resultant time and cost savings.
2. Specialized value engineering teams
assigned to specific projects. An interdisciplinary team identifies and
reduces life-cycle costs by generating a large number of ideas that may
be developed into feasible changes.
